The Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association, as a member of the National Association of Wheat Growers, is a nonprofit partnership of U.S. wheat growers who, by combining their strengths, voices and ideas, are working to ensure a better future for themselves, their industry and the general public.The Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association and the National Association of Wheat Growers receive their direction from members and work from a grassroots level.
OWGA is a voluntary organization funded by membership dues comprised of wheat producers and those interested in the success of the industry.It is separate from the Oklahoma Wheat Commission, which is funded by the wheat check-off.The OWGA provides these primary services:
Legislative Activities
OWGA communicates daily with elected officials, USDA and other government agencies and organizations on issues that impact wheat producers. OWGA represents the farmer’s prospective and works to improve farmer income.
Communication Services
Our monthly membership newsletter offers practical policy and production information, plus schedules of events and activities.We also work hard to bring positive stories to newspapers and radio.
Education
Our local meetings, workshops, and annual conventions feature interesting speakers, current issues and get producers involved in the policy-making process.We also co-sponsor events that we think are of value to producers.The OWGA brings lots of valuable educational opportunities to producers.
